As Maryland’s chief fiscal officer, Peter has a pulse on Maryland’s economy. Every tax season, he sees whether or not incomes are rising, and whether or not businesses across Maryland are able to keep more of their profits. He frequently visits businesses of all sizes — from large manufacturing firms, to biotechnological companies, to small businesses on main streets — in order to get a better understanding on what’s happening in the Real Maryland Economy.

Cognizant of the fact that small businesses are not only key contributors to our state economy but also serve as the lifeblood of our small communities, Peter has advocated for reducing the financial burden on small business owners and Maryland consumers by promoting tax credits and a halt on new taxes and fees. With over 550,000 small businesses that more than 1 million Marylanders in our state, Peter will continue to be a champion for our small businesses.
