Comptroller Reviews Talbot's Use of State Open Space funds
The Star-Democrat | June 30, 2009
NEWCOMB Comptroller Peter Franchot stopped by Oak Creek Landing on Tuesday to see first-hand what Talbot County has done with a waterfront parcel it bought with $1.5 million in state Program Open Space funds last year.
The Board of Public Works, which includes Franchot, Gov. Martin O'Malley and Treasurer Nancy Kopp, approved the expenditure for a small parcel next to Oak Creek Landing and the county completed the purchase in February 2008. The land, which has several water and sewer taps on it, was going to host four homes right next to Oak Creek until the state stepped in. The county has also contributed $217,000 to create a park.
